They're cute enough to eat I guess?

If you’ve been to Montwise, you’ve likely encountered the man who is absolutely obsessed with Octopuffs just outside of the inn. But like many academics, he has no money to continue his research. Let’s help him find a patron with deep pockets. Here’s how to complete Will Research for Money in Octopath Traveler 2.

The Octopus Research wants one thing in life: someone to fund his research into whether Octopuffs are really octopus or really an entirely new species. While that question might pale in comparison to some of the things on our travelers’ plates, completing it will grant you the useful Octopuff farming item, Octopuff Pot.

So, let’s find this man a generous patron with strange interests and more money than sense.

Head to Conning Creek in the Harbor Lands, which is on the other side of the world, on a peninsula. Conning Creek is defined by its market, which is absolutely rife with all types of fish.

Once here, head straight to the tavern at the top of the map. Inside, you’ll find a posh little man with a feather in his hat. Speak to him, and he’ll have the name Octopus Enthusiast. It’s a match made in octopus heaven.

The Octopus Enthusiast will tell you that he loves octopi. He thinks they’re charming, and he also likes to eat them. But his real dream? Is to get people to stop fearing them all together.

You’ll need to guide, allure, befriend, or hire the Octopus Enthusiast. Once he’s in your party, bring him back to the Octopus Researcher in Montwise.

The Researcher will show the Enthusiast a sketch he drew of an Octopuff, and the Enthusiast will be immediately smitten. He’ll opt to fund the Researcher, and in his joy the Researcher will give you the accessory Octopuff Pot, which is excellent for grinding out exp.
