Towers are Chadley’s bread and butter, but the deeper you get in the game, the more challenging they become. Here’s how to unlock the Riverside Tower in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
How to Activate the Corel Region Riverside Tower in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
It might have taken us until Chapter 9 to unlock the rest of the Corel Region, but wasn’t it worth it? This desert absolutely sprawls. However, the Corel Region offers new challenges compared to Junon and the Grasslands. You can no longer just go up to a button and smack it, at least for the Riverside Tower.
To activate the Riverside Tower, you’ll need to kill the two Chimeras at the base. They’re weak to Fire and will immediately become Pressured once they’ve used their special ability, Aquatic Bezoar. They’re also apt to use Poison abilities, so try to avoid their Venom Blasts.
Once they’re dealt with, you’ll need to turn your attention to the nearby rock wall just to the right of the tower. It’s marked by yellow steps, which you can climb.
Once you get to the top, look up, and you’ll see a wooden post you can use your grapple to swing off of. To grapple, press L2. Then use your left joystick to move toward the tower. Once you arch close to the tower, you’ll see a Circle button icon appear near the platform. Press the Circle button to jump and land on the tower.
From here, you just need to climb the ladder as normal to hit the button at the top. Don’t forget to destroy those crates to get Moogle Medals. Activating this tower will also mark a Lifespring and Fiend encounter to the north. But more importantly, it also makes the Protorelic quest of the region accessible.
And now that we have access to the desert, we can finally finish up Johnny’s quest, The Saga of the Seaside Inn, in Costa del Sol. And this will lay the foundation for some unique achievements for those trying to platinum the game.
