Depending on whether you’re playing with an online or local friend, the process for starting a 1v1 lobby will differ. To invite an online friend to a match, follow these steps:

  1. Head to the main menu and press play.
  2. Go into the Custom tab and create an online lobby.
  3. Either invite a bot or a friend to the match through the social menu. Click “Custom Game Invite” to summon them to your lobby.
  4. Change the game mode to 1 vs 1. The number of ringouts and time you pick is entirely up to you.

Similarly, you have the option to play locally. If your friend is currently beside you to play co-op, you don’t have to go the Online play route. To invite a local friend to a game, follow these steps:

  1. Go back into the Play menu.
  2. Head into the Custom tab.
  3. Select Local Play and tap on the book icon.
  4. Pick 1 vs 1 as your game mode. Like before, the number of ringouts and time you pick is entirely up to you.

When you log into the game and go into the Play menu, you may not have access to the custom tab. If this is the case, go to the main screen and select Custom Game. Upon entering the lobby, change your game mode to 1 vs 1 and invite your friend like before. Have fun in your MultiVersus 1v1 matches with friends!
