Genshin Impact – Mistplitter Reforged Ascension Materials, Recommended Characters and More

Strongest sword around hands down

Mistsplitter Reforged is a 5-star weapon in Genshin Impact. Released alongside Inazuma during its first banner, it quickly became one of the most sought weapons for basically every sword-wielding character out there thanks to its insane stats and unique passive that boosts damage to new heights.

Just like most Limited Wish-exclusive weapons, it becomes available in banners whenever its intended user makes a comeback. But as we mentioned above, she’s not the only one who really wants to hold it, so we’ll go through all its best users here, as well as list everything that you’ll need to farm before finishing it.

Mistsplitter Reforged Weapon Overview in Genshin Impact

Base ATK47 (at Lvl 1), 674 (at Lvl 90)
SubstatCritical DMG %
Bonus C.DMG%9,6% (at Lvl 1), 44,1% (at Lvl 90)
Passive DescriptionGain a 12 ~ 24% Elemental DMG Bonus for all elements and receive the might of the Mistsplitter’s Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, the Mistsplitter’s Emblem provides a 8/16/28 ~ 16/32/56% Elemental DMG Bonus for the character’s Elemental Type. The character will obtain 1 stack of Mistsplitter’s Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals Elemental DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Burst (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack’s duration is calculated independently.

With astonishing base attack damage (the highest of all swords) and Critical Damage values (second only to Light of Foliar Infusion), you literally cannot go wrong with this weapon. Every sword character would be glad to wield it solely for its raw stats. Throwing the passive at the table makes it nothing less than perfect for every elemental-heavy character, which is basically everyone.

Its refinement upgrades are also insane, but it’s recommended for F2P/low spenders to keep any extra 5-star weapons copies instead of refining them because multiple characters can wield them gracefully. Some characters will often use the weapons way better than others, though, and we’ll list those cases below.

Best Characters for Mistsplitter Reforged in Genshin Impact

All characters mentioned below are great options for the weapon, but some stand out a little bit for a few reasons (usually the same ones). Here’s a ranking of who should be holding Mistsplitter if you have it.

1 – Kamisato Ayaka

As her signature weapon, she couldn’t be ranked lower than first. With stellar damage in her Burst and consistently powerful hits with her Normals, she easily keeps 100% uptime on all three passive stacks and lives up to her maximum potential with that. Get it for her if you can.

2 – Keqing

It matches her color scheme, so she’s automatically a great user. But seriously, this weapon is nuts for Keqing. She lacks an actual signature weapon, and Mistsplitter happens to be her best choice. She can maintain all three stacks and really shines in Aggravate teams, to the point she can keep up with limited characters given the right build.

3 – Alhaitham

He’s arguably more powerful than both of the above characters, but he ultimately prefers his own signature weapon, so the girls take priority in usage for Mistsplitter (unless you don’t own/don’t wanna build them, of course). He also keeps all three stacks simultaneously, so you can’t go wrong with it.

4 – Kamisato Ayato

His case is the same as Alhaitham’s. It just happens that his own Signature is better for him, so if you have both, Mistsplitter’s not the priority. Unless you’re really lacking in Critical Damage in your build, of course.

Honorable Mentions

A DPS build C6 Bennett can dish out some nasty damage when equipped with it. He gets Pyro infusion from his Burst, so he gets to stack it fully. A C6 Kazuha works just the same, being just a little bit harder to get. For actual Sub-DPS, Xingqiu is the best user if you can meet his energy requirements without an ER% weapon. Albedo and Kaeya also love this weapon, but you get more value from it with Xingqiu’s multiple Hydro swords.

Since Critical Damage is so valuable, anyone is actually great with it. The above options are just the most common ones.

All Ascension Materials for Mistsplitter Reforged

This was the first 5-star Weapon introduced back in the Inazuma update, so expect to be around those Japanese lands for a while to upgrade it. The whole deed will require a little bit more than 1.500.000 Mora, alongside numerous Enhancement Ores and the following drops:

  • x5 Coral Branch of a Distant Sea
  • x14 Jeweled Branch of a Distant Sea
  • x14 Jade Branch of a Distant Sea
  • x6 Golden Branch of a Distant Sea
  • x15 Old Handguard
  • x23 Kageuchi Handguard
  • x27 Famed Handguard
  • x23 Chaos Gear
  • x27 Chaos Axis
  • x41 Chaos Oculus

Where to Get the Branches of a Distant Sea

As with every Inazuma weapon, you’ll need to spend some resin on leveling it. The Court of the Flowing Sand is your friendly domain for that, and it’s very straightforward. Shields are stronger here, so bring some extra protection to make for smoother runs. You also get those items from Inazuma events, so you might have a few of those to spare.

Where to Get Handguard Items

And here comes the painful part. Those items are dropped from the Kairagi around Inazuma, but they will only drop a single Old Handguard often. If they even drop something, that is. Getting higher grades is possible but not very common. You might wanna use the Interactive Map alongside your Adventurer Handbook for this one, as you’ll need lots of those (especially if you just pulled for Ayaka and are also trying to level her).

Where to Get Chaos Items

While you need those the most, the Chaos Gears and their upgraded versions are easily obtained from the Ruin Sentinels found in Inazuma, especially around Seirai Island, but you can also find plenty of them roaming Narukami, Tsurumi and Watatsumi Islands. They usually drop tons of these, so don’t worry about the higher quantity. You’ll probably spend less time getting these than hunting all of those pesky Ronin.

Additionally, all of the above items (aside from the resin-locked ones) are obtainable from the Paimon’s Bargains shop in exchange for some Masterless Stardust. The highest-tier ones are only obtainable with Starglitter, but save it for more important things like Fates.
