Calamity Queller Genshin Impact Featured

Genshin Impact – Calamity Queller Ascension Materials, Recommended Characters and More

It cannot avoid your financial disaster

Calamity Queller is a 5-star Polearm in Genshin Impact. It is one of the rarest weapons in the game not only because of its base rarity, but because very few people actually cared to roll for it at the time of its release. However, Calamity Queller is actually good for a lot of characters and should not be only associated with its intended user.

So, to avoid people leaving a weapon as good as this rotting in their inventory, here are some of the best characters you can give the Calamity Queller to.

Calamity Queller Weapon Overview in Genshin Impact

Base ATK49 (at Lvl 1), 740 (at Lvl 90)
SubstatAttack %
Bonus ATK%3,5% (at Lvl 1), 16,5% (at Lvl 90)
Passive DescriptionGain 12 ~ 24% All Elemental DMG Bonus. Obtain Consummation for 20s after using an Elemental Skill, causing ATK to increase by 3.2 ~ 6,4% per second. This ATK increase has a maximum of 6 stacks. When the character equipped with this weapon is not on the field, Consummation’s ATK increase is doubled.

Weapons with ATK% sub stats are often looked down on in favor of Critical ones, but it should not be the case here. Calamity Queller gives a ton of base Attack at the cost of a lower bonus sub stat, but its passive is generically great for various DPS/sub DPS characters. Its first part is arguably there only to make it more viable for more characters, and you cannot say they did not succeed in that.

It heavily favors a quick swap playstyle to make the most of its passive, but it is still not half bad when used on an on-field character.

Best Characters for Calamity Queller in Genshin Impact

Polearm characters have plenty of good options in the game, so we will go through some of the best here.

1 – Shenhe

Image via Hoyoverse

This is her signature weapon designed around her, so she is probably the best choice to use it. While she is a niche support character, her buff is the strongest steroid in the whole game for Cryo characters. You will easily be hitting over 3k total Atk with this weapon equipped, making it even more valuable.

As mentioned before, the bonus Elemental Dmg does not seem to be aimed at her, but it does help a bit with personal damage. The downside is that Shenhe needs extra Energy Recharge when using it in order to burst consistently, but you can get it with sub stats.

2 – Xiangling

Ok, getting her on the list is almost cheating, but this girl is great with literally every top-tier Polearm in the game. Blame Hoyoverse on that one. She might do better usage of the weapon’s passive than Shenhe herself, but since Xiangling has tons of other good options (read as “every weapon she can use”) and this is the best for Shenhe herself, she gets the second spot.

3 – Rosaria

She is often used as an off-field Cryo applier/Critical Rate buffer, so this spear serves her quite well. Since a regular rotation usually swaps her out quickly, she can make full use of its passive as well.

4 – Hu Tao

It gives basically everything she wants except for extra HP, with some extra Atk% to try to make up for it. It does not scale very well with her, though. She also cannot fully use the passive because she is always on field.

Honorable Mentions

Xiao and Cyno are in the same boat as Hu Tao in terms of usage, so the weapon is more of a budget (if you can call it that) than a definitive choice for them. Raiden Shogun uses it fairly well, but she often requires other stats for her main weapon (mainly ER%), and the passive does not fully make up for it.

All Ascension Materials for Calamity Queller

Liyue Weapons often require more of those “early game” materials, so you might not spend so much time getting them all. You will need about 1.500.000 Mora to fully ascend it, along with the following:

  • x5 Mist Veiled Lead Elixir
  • x14 Mist Veiled Mercury Elixir
  • x14 Mist Veiled Gold Elixir
  • x6 Mist Veiled Primo Elixir
  • x15 Whopperflower Nectar
  • x23 Shimmering Nectar
  • x27 Energy Nectar
  • x23 Mist Grass Pollen
  • x27 Mist Grass
  • x41 Mist Grass Wick

How to Get Mist Veiled Items

While they are usually distributed in Liyue-related events, the main source for those is the Hidden Palace of Lianshan Formula Domain in Mingyun Village, next to Dragonspine. It has some annoying Electro-type enemies, so bringing Cryo or Dendro characters might be the best call.

Where to Get the Nectar Items

Getting Nectar is probably the most annoying part of leveling this weapon as they are dropped from the Whopperflowers. You will have to hunt those around the whole map and hope they will give you some. Whenever you see an interactable flower with a bubble speech symbol instead of the usual hand, you know that it is a Whopperflower in disguise, so get those as much as possible.

The final ascension item is obtained from the Cicin Mages. Both the Cryo and Electro version work here, but the regular Electro ones are more prominent around the open world and quite easier to deal it.

To find any of these enemies, you can always use your Adventurer Handbook to mark a few of them on the map. If you just do not feel like hunting them right now, you can also get them from the Paimon’s Bargains shop with some Masterless Stardust. The highest tier for each of them is only obtainable with Starglitter but save those for some better options.
