Does Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7) Have A Transmog System? – Answered

Can you swap your weapon skins here?

The Buster Sword is one of the most iconic Final Fantasy weapons of all time, but it may prove itself to be rather weak after discovering different weapons in Rebirth. Can you swap the skin of this iconic blade — or other weapons, even — or is this not possible?

Can You Transmog Weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

Unfortunately, it looks like you won’t be able to slap a new skin on a different weapon in this lengthy RPG, as there is no Transmog available in this particular entry in the Final Fantasy franchise. Any weapon that you find on the field is going to look exactly as it does in the menu, so you’ll just need to work on upgrading your weapons if you’re hoping to continue using the iconic Buster Sword throughout your playthrough.

For example, I’m still rather early in my playthrough as of the time of this writing, and the weapon that I currently have equipped not only has a power that is more suited to my playstyle, but it’s also stronger than my current Buster Sword. I would love the ability to slap the skin of the Buster Sword over this particular weapon, as I think it looks slightly silly compared to the menacing blade that I had on my person before, but I guess this is a case of substance over style.

While it may be disappointing to some players that you can’t Transmog your appearance, it’s something that wasn’t available in the original game, nor the Remake — and it looks as if Square Enix is trying to keep things as authentic as possible while adding new pieces of flair throughout this sequel.

However, if you’re hoping to deck out your favorite companions with some unique style, you’ll be glad to know that you can change their outfits, alongside unlockable swimsuits that can be worn to help change up their visual style — we’ve got you covered on all of that information in our Final Fantasy VII Rebirth section below.
