Best Early Currency Farming Strategy in Path of Exile Legacy of Phrecia

Get those Divine Orbs early!

The Legacy of Phrecia event completely overhauled Path of Exile’s endgame, allowing players to progress differently. The Idol system, which replaces the iconic Atlas passive skill tree, can confuse new and veteran players.

However, the Idol system feels simpler once you know how it works, and how to use it to make some currency. Here are a few good early endgame currency farming strategies you can follow in Path of Exile’s Legacy of Phrecia event.

Best Early Endgame Currency Farming Strategy in Path of Exile Legacy of Phrecia

The early endgame or early mapping strategy should have a relatively straightforward trajectory: farm maps, earn currency, and finish all map bonus objectives.

Some players take weeks to finish these objectives, while some only take a few days. This phase is what players call the “early mapping” stage and once the Atlas or map bonus objectives are complete, that’s where the “real” endgame starts.

Nevertheless, here are some of the strategies you should follow to earn some early currency and finish the map bonus objectives at the same time:

  1. Equip all Idols regardless of modifiers so you can utilize your Idol Inventory. Do this while finishing as many maps as you can in the early game.
  2. Find Idols with the “Tier 1-15 Maps found have (X)% chance to become 1 tier higher” and equip them.
  3. Start nitpicking some Idols that synergize with each other. Our best Idols guide could help here. If you want to theorycraft your own strategy, you can look at the list of all the Idol modifiers in the game and find out which works best for your playstyle.
  4. You’ll notice several league mechanics spawning frequently in a single map when doing maps. This is from your equipped Idols, and technically, you can get all league mechanics to keep showing up, giving you more loot. Finish all those league mechanics as much as possible.
  5. Rush to unlock more Idol slots in your Idol Inventory by finishing pinnacle bosses when you can and finishing map bonus objectives.

Generally, once you reach mapping, you will encounter two problems: lack of map sustain and finding higher tier maps.

The lack of map drops only happens when you don’t utilize your Idol inventory. You start with many Idol slots for a reason, and equipping any Idol is better than none.

Since all Idols have a fixed roll of “2% more map drops in the area,” placing any Idol should be your first priority at the start of mapping.

Naturally, you’ll get enough map sustain that you won’t even have to use Kirac’s missions aside from using Explorer’s Scouting Reports to complete all map bonus objectives.

To fix the problem of not finding higher-tier maps, you must keep your Idol inventory full while looking for a few modifiers to help you out.

How to Transition to Endgame Currency Farming in Path of Exile Legacy of Phrecia

The Legacy of Phrecia event emphasizes combining league mechanics rather than having one or two league mechanics as currency farming strategies. While you can still combine farming strategies like Delirium and Beyond, Breach and Beyond, or even Destructive Play and Essences, you want to capitalize on everything because Idols can give you more than the Atlas passive system it replaced.

The best way to transition to endgame farming is to pile up all your Idols into one or two stash tabs. Use the search bar to filter mechanics. For example, you can type “Breach” and look for all the Idols with at least two Breach modifiers and some other affixes that could synergize with Breach.

Pair all Idols that synergize with each other and maybe buy a few Idols from the trade site to complete your set. Start replacing bad idols in your idol inventory and blasting some maps.

As for the bad Idols, you can use the Recombinator in Kingsmarch to recombine semi-decent ones to find a better Idol. You can also use the “3:1” vendor recipe, where you sell three Idols of the same type to get another randomly rolled Idol of the same type.

Once you have your perfect farming strategy, you can even set up a public stash tab with a fixed price like ” ~5 Chaos Orbs Each” and start dumping Idols regardless of whether they are good. Idols could also be a form of currency if you use it correctly.
