When is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Earth Day Event?

Now that Kipper is gone (finally), when is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Earth Day event? Here's what we know so far.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

During a recent Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo revealed that they were going to have a free update later this month that would add “features including the Earth Day event.” Now that the Bunny Day and Cherry Blossom events are completed, it’s time to get ready for the next step. So when is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Earth Day event?

When is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Earth Day Event?

Earth Day in the real world lands on April 22nd, which stands to reason that this is when the crest of the event will occur. For those that are familiar with previous games in the franchise, Mayor Tortimer would give players nature-inspired items with their time in the game while talking about the importance of nature and the beauty it holds.

With the previous not-so-subtle hints that Leif the Sloth is returning, especially in the free April update banner Nintendo shared earlier this month, it looks like he could be taking over for Mayor Tortimer. While we don’t know exactly what the “newly added features” will entail, it will be like previous events where whatever is added will be in direct correlation with Earth Day. Just … no more eggs, please.

For those that may not know, Earth Day was created back in 1970 as a way to promote proactive environmentalism while careening society to be more thoughtful in how we treat our planet and what we can do to unclasp some of the damage we’ve already done to it. Every year on April 22nd, the world unites for a brighter future so why not do the same in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Regardless of when the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Earth Day event will start, it is exciting to see what else Nintendo will do for this game with their constant updates and returning favorites.
