‘Small World of Warcraft’ Transforms the Beloved MMORPG Into a Tabletop Experience

There's a new way to experience Azeroth and that is with Small World of Warcraft; a tabletop game that can be enjoyed with friends IRL.

When World of Warcraft first launched from Blizzard back in 2004, it was instantly met with love and praise from gamers everywhere. Since then, numerous expansions have launched and the MMORPG isn’t showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. That being said, there’s a new way to experience Azeroth and that is with Small World of Warcraft; a tabletop game that can be enjoyed with friends IRL.

Small World of Warcraft hails from Days of Wonder in an official collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment. Small World of Warcraft will allow players to choose their faction – Alliance or Horde – and their race – including Worgen – and take to Azeroth in a new kind of way.

“Working alongside Blizzard has been an amazing experience. Not only did our vision for the game quickly align, but the creative work we’ve done together has been intense and extremely satisfying,” said Adrien Martinot, head of Days of Wonder, in a recent press statement. “Blizzard allowed us to deep dive into their rich Warcraft universe, and I’m eager to see this incredible cooperation come to light when the game releases.”

Players can choose their own combinations of special powers from the beloved World of Warcraft as they fight to take control over Azeroth once and for all. Dominate familiar locales, obliterate the competition, and seek the aid of powerful artifacts littered throughout the game itself.

The team over at Days of Wonder worked very closely with Blizzard in making sure that the lore and experience seen in Small World of Warcraft honored that of the game in its traditional sense. This tabletop game will also offer exclusive artwork as well to make the experience even more immersive and true to the franchise that spawned over a decade of love and respect.

As for the game itself, it’s a standalone adventure that is made for 2-5 players and can take anywhere between 40-80 minutes to complete. Other features include:

  • 6 double-sided boards
  • 16 Warcraft race banners
  • 182 Matching Race tokens
  • 15 Murloc tokens
  • 20 Unique Special Power badges
  • 5 Player Summary Sheets
