A few weeks ago, we wrote about Toby Fox’s plans to host a special developer livestream on September 15. In our coverage, we speculated that there may be more to this livestream than a playthrough of Chapter 1 of Deltarune.
And as you can probably tell from the title of this news piece, this has indeed proven to be the case as Toby Fox has announced the official release date for Chapter 2 of Deltarune!
Chapter 2 of Deltarune to Release on September 17

In conjunction with the celebration of Undertale’s 6th anniversary, and Toby Fox’s special developer livestream, the release date for Chapter 2 of Deltarune has been officially announced.
Not only do we have a release date for Chapter 2, but it’s actually coming a lot sooner than one might expect. On social media, the release date for Deltarune Chapter 2 is set for September 17, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) with Chapter 2 being available on both PC and Mac.
No word yet on when Chapter 2 will be available on other platforms such as Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, for those who may have questions such as ensuring your save file carries over, an FAQ section on the Deltarune website provides a few key answers.
How do I ensure my save file from Chapter 1 carries over to Chapter 2?
- Completion data is generated when you see the credits of Chapter 1. (Go t o sleep in your bed at the end of the game.)
I’m on a different computer from the one I played Chapter 1 with. Can I play Chapter 2?
- You can play Chapter 2 without save data from Chapter 1. As long as you generally remember what happened story-wise, you’ll be fine.
So is Chapter 2 the rest of the game? This is it!?
- There are planned to be more chapters than Chapter 2. However, we’ve only completed Chapter 2 so far, so please be patient.
One of the most exciting aspects of that FAQ is confirmation that additional chapters for Deltarune are planned. Of course, the entire situation is pretty exciting if you’re a fan who’s been waiting for Chapter 2 of Deltarune (ourselves included).
All in all, we’re really looking forward to the release of Chapter 2 of Deltarune on September 17, and look forward to the release of additional chapters sometime in the future.
