With Assassin’s Creed Shadows nearing its release, a parody game is slowly gaining some steam, pun intended, with 40,000 wishlists on Steam.
The game, called “Yasuke Simulator,” pokes fun at one of the two main characters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows while bringing up the controversy surrounding Ubisoft’s historical context in the game. It was even looked at by the Japanese government.
What is Yasuke Simulator All About?

Yasuke Simulator pokes fun at Ubisoft’s issue with Yasuke’s depiction in feudal Japan. Yasuke is known as a black samurai, and AC: Shadow’s use of words like “Yasuke is our first historical protagonist” in one of their showcases drew a lot of controversy, as his existence or anything about Yasuke has never been proven.
The game was being marketed as one of their most historically accurate depictions of feudal Japan, but one of the main characters wasn’t historically accurate. While the game is still historical fiction, Satoshi Hamada, a member of the House of Councilors in Japan, had concerns over the inaccuracies of Japanese history being depicted in the game.
Nevertheless, this is one of the main reasons they had to delay the game a few months ago and fix some of the issues.
Yasuke Simulator exaggerates everything, showing Yasuke as an African samurai who joins Oda Nobunaga in his quest to unite Japan. The developers are even named “HistoryAccurateDevelopers” to put more icing on the cake.
The game features Yasuke wielding automatic rifles, using sniper rifles, riding a convertible, and overcoming obstacles in feudal Japan. The game garnered 40,000 wishlists on Steam on March 2, 2025, and that number’s getting even higher.
