Elder Sims are hardly left out of the familial and age-related enhancements in Generations.
Elders also receive a special object—the cane—which allows them new behaviors that help further define their role in the family and town.
Boast About Grandkids
Grandparents are always proud of their grandkids. Elders in Generations can now talk with other Sims and use a new social: Boast about Grandchildren.
This social is not unlocked until the elder has a grandchild, but as soon as they do, it’s a great interaction to use because it has a friendly STC.
The only Sims who will reject this social are Evil, Inappropriate, Childish, and Mean-Spirited.
When an elder uses the boasting social, they pull out photos of the grandchildren and shows them to the Target Sim. The Target then looks on, nods, and smiles.
Sims with positive traits like Charismatic, Easily Impressed, and Family-Oriented are typically very receptive to this social.
Cane
Elders have a new object to use: the cane. Canes are purchasable in Buy Mode. After placing the cane on the elder’s lot, drag the cane into the elder’s personal inventory.
Then, you can click on the cane and set it to be used for mobility. Having a cane in the elder’s inventory also unlocks a handful of new interactions, all centered around harassment.
Harass
Cane-wielding elder Sims can use a new Harass social on other Sims.
When used, the elder Sim pulls out his cane and waves it around, using it as a prop to indicate just how irritated and grumpy he is.
The elder launches into a lecture. The Target Sim tries to calm the elder down, but it’s usually no use.
The social has a mean context, which starts any conversation off with a negative bent. Using Harass increases the Steamed STC.
Unless the conversation somehow recovers and ends on a positive note, Harass will cost LTR.
In addition to the Harass social, elder Sims can use the new Harass Everyone interaction on the cane. This sets a behavior pattern.
The elder will now use the cane to indicate displeasure at, well, just about everything and everybody.
If left autonomous, the elder Sim will approach other Sims and objects and launch into general harassment.
