Base Defense Setups

NICKEL 3-3-5 ODD 

3 Sky Wk Show 4 

Setup 1:

1. Base align.
2. Show blitz.
3. Hot route the DE on the right of the screen to a zone (optional). 

This is a great base setup that will generate passive pressure off the left edge. For max consistency, leave the right-of-screen DE rushing. Otherwise, look to use him to take away your opponent’s first read. 

Setup 2:

1. Base align.
2. Show blitz.
3. Global blitz the left-of-screen LB.
4. Hot route the DE on the right of the screen to zone/man (optional). 

This is a more consistent way to generate pressure, because the LB will free up the CB off the edge. You can user-control him and back off if you want more control over the formation. 

Cover 3 Sky (Pressure Right) 

Setup:

1. Base align.
2. Show blitz.
3. Global blitz LBs.
4. Contain.
5. Slide the slot LB. 

User-control the LB on the left of screen and drop into a hook zone over the middle. This will send the pressure from the right side of the formation. 

3 Sky Wk Show 4 (Pressure Both Ways, vs Blocking HB)

Setup:

1. Base align.
2. Show blitz.
3. Global blitz the LBs.
4. Contain (vs mobile QB).
5. Slide towards the slots. 

If the opponent starts to block a halfback, this setup is crucial to get two free players. The HB will pick up one, but the other rusher will get the QB. This is your third-and-long setup.
