This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

The Last Guardian is a spiritual successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colussus. Developed by Fumito Ueda and the team at Team Ico, The Last Guardian was originally announced for the PlayStation 3 at E3 2009 and finally released for the PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro on December 6, 2016. The game takes players on a journey through a series of ruins as they help a young boy and his newfound friend, Trico – a griffin-like bird dog – find their way out and back to civilization. This article will act as a hub page for all of our coverage of The Last Guardian, including tips, guides and full walkthroughs for each section of the game.

The Last Guardian Tips

  •  Because of the nature of The Last Guardian, paying careful attention to the world around you is extremely important.
  • Oftentimes, Trico will give off warnings. This can include things that irritate the creature, or something that you need to be aware of.
  • Pay careful attention to Trico’s eyes. When its eyes turn yellow, the animal is cautiously investigating something in the immediate area. When its eyes turn purple, Trico is angry, so you should take a look around to find the source of its distress.
  • Many times, the way forward won’t be clear. You should always keep an eye out for ledges and piles of rubble that you can use to push forward and find new areas to explore.
  • The environment isn’t the only thing that can be used to reach higher places. Trico plays a vital role in your adventure, so be sure to make use of its height and jumping skills to access new areas you couldn’t reach on your own.
