Many of Warhammer 40K: Darktide’s penances require a lot out of you if you want to complete them. They could ask you to take advantage of very specific situations, ask you to do things that are seemingly impossible, or simply ask you to do a ton of missions. In the case of this penance for the Veteran Sharpshooter, you’ll need to hone your aim and pick your shots carefully. Here’s how to complete the Deadeye penance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
How to Finish Deadeye in Darktide
The penance for this challenge asks players to kill five highlighted enemies with purely weakspot hits while using a weapon’s Secondary Action on Heresy (difficulty four) or higher, all within a single use of Volley Fire. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ll want to wait until level 30 before attempting to complete this penance. Any of the level 30 feats for Sharpshooter refresh the cooldown of your Volley Fire, which is necessary to complete this challenge.
Once you’re at level 30, you’ll want a weapon that can reliably hit enemy weakspots. As such, we suggest avoiding any and all fully automatic and burst weapons, as these weapons have a high chance of hitting a non-weakspot and forcing you to try again. We also wouldn’t advise the Laspistol or Plasma Gun as, despite their single-shot nature, they lack in either range or precision. This leaves us with the Lasguns, the Boltgun, and the Combat Shotgun, the latter of which you can throw away due to close-range likely doing you more harm than good.
If you’re going down the route of the Lasguns, you have two primary choices based on preference. Any of the Infantry Lasguns are tried and true methods for taking down enemy combatants, due to their semi-automatic nature. The Helbore Lasguns are another excellent choice, thanks in no small part to their charged shot making them a great sniper. It’ll merely come down to preference and which weapon you’d like to use, with our favorite being the Helbore Lasguns.
When it comes to a feat build, we believe the following feats best complement trying to go for the Deadeye penance:
- Level 5: At Arm’s Length
- Level 10: Sniper
- Level 15: Covering Fire
- Level 20: Camo Expert
- Level 25: Deadshot/One After Another
- Level 30: Counterfire
This build is easily one of the best, if not the best, for completing the Deadeye penance. It offers a ton of supporting damage to you and your Volley Fire. The level 25 feat is flexible due to Deadshot having a high-skill floor. If you’re able to get good at managing it, it can be a lifesaver, though One After Another is a safe choice as well. When it comes to level 30, Counterfire is the definitive choice with the other two feats simply not being good for this situation.

With a ton of practice on aiming, survivability, and teamwork, Deadeye will soon enough be yours with a great cosmetic to boot. Just be ready to lose out a few times since the Suppressed debuff can be a real shot to the knee.
