What Does Impact Mean in Warhammer 40K Darktide?
Impact has impact.

Like in previous Fatshark games, you’ll come across a variety of effects, blessings, and traits in Warhammer 40K: Darktide that don’t immediately make sense and often feel interchangeable. Impact is one of these effects, and it can be quite useful with the right build for crowd control and sustained toughness.
Here’s everything you need to know about impact in Darktide, as well as whether it’s worth building your weapon or character build around.
Impact in Darktide Explained
Impact directly increases the amount of stagger applied to enemies in Darktide, making it easier to put them into a staggered state.

Think of it like this: if a larger enemy, such as an Ogryn, has a certain stagger resistance value, a higher impact stat helps you overcome that resistance with fewer hits. This means you can stagger them more quickly, chain your attacks, increase pushback, and interrupt their actions more effectively. As for regular enemies, those already affected by the impact will be thrown even farther.
Blessings That Increase Impact
The following blessings add impact to your weapons:
Blessing | Weapon Types |
---|---|
Fan the Flames | Purgation Flamer |
Hammerblow | Shock Maul Arbites Shock Maul Shock Maul and Suppression Shield “Devil’s Claw” Sword Thunder Hammer Crusher Sapper Shovel |
Power Cycler | Power Sword |
Thunderstrike | Power Maul “Devil’s Claw” Sword Thunder Hammer Crusher Sapper Shovel Battle Maul & Slab Shield |
Trauma | “Devil’s Claw” Sword Thunder Hammer Crusher Sapper Shovel |
Vicious Slice | “Devil’s Claw” Sword |
Some blessings indirectly affect Impact, but the ones listed above directly add a value to the weapon they’re applied to.
Is Impact Worth It?
Like every other stat in Darktide, Impact has its uses, but it’s not particularly strong on its own, especially compared to Power, which directly boosts damage, cleave, and Impact. So instead of a blessing like Hammerblow, which only increases Impact, consider using Decimator, Skullcrusher, or Fan the Flames.
Impact is rarely the primary stat you chase on every roll in Darktide, but it becomes priceless on weapons that already swing slowly or aim to pin elites in place. If your build revolves around constant crowd control or Skullcrusher damage, pick at least one Impact blessing; otherwise, prioritise Power and treat any extra Impact as a nice bonus.
