Borderlands 3 Alchemist Guide – Getting This Legendary Weapon

Need some help getting your hands on something that will truly light up the room when you’re in? Wanting to create an absolutely electrifying atmosphere? Well, we’ve got you covered here with the Borderlands 3 Alchemist Legendary weapon. This particular Torgue assault rifle is special because it always spawns Incendiary and it is almost guaranteed to blow your enemies out of the water with the variety of damage-dealing offerings it holds in its frame. The special weapon effect for the Alchemist is called “You can’t gain something without giving something back”, and it means that when your projectiles hit something, you will take some shock damage. The gyrojets that you can fire out of this gun will proc the electrocute status, and if left idle or after reloading, the jets can detonate and proc the burn status.

Yes, it’s going to hurt you a little if you’re going to want to do any meaningful damage with this damage, but the amount that you’re taking really pales in comparison to what you can dish out. You’ll be taking about 10% of the weapon’s actual damage to yourself as shock damage when you use it, and there will be things that can reduce this amount of damage take i.e. splash damage reduction or shock damage resistance. There are ways to manage this, and honestly, the Shock and Incendiary damage output is so significant against shielded enemies that we reckon this is an essential pickup that’s worth the risk.

Now, need to know how to actually get your hands on the Borderlands 3 Alchemist weapon? Well, we’ve got some bad news – there’s no particular boss that has a higher rate of dropping this weapon than, well, your bog-standard outback toilet. Yes, you can get the Alchemist from any random loot source in Borderlands 3, which means literally anything that could dispense loot of any kind. We still think that farming easy bosses like Graveward are the quickest way to get weapons that are looted this way that are Legendaries, so check out our guide on that boss to make things easy for you.
