If you’ve spent any amount of time in the new Garden of Salvation raid in Destiny 2, then you’re going to be familiar with the raid challenges that Bungie have been putting at the feet of eager Guardians. We’ve already put out some tips in the past about beating the Consecrated Mind, but what everyone’s concerned with now is the Destiny 2 Link to the Chain raid challenge. Check out our guide on this so that you and your Fireteam can make the most of things.
Destiny 2: Link to the Chain Raid Challenge – What Is It?
The basic premise behind the A Link to the Chain challenge in the Garden of Salvation is pretty simple: everyone has to be in possession of the Enlightened buff at the same time. If you’re not familiar with the mechanics of the second encounter in the Garden, it involves a tag-team system of sorts where certain players take turns to refresh said Enlightened buff on each other. This challenge will put your usual formation a little out of sorts, so listen up.
Destiny 2: Link to the Chain Raid Challenge – How to Complete
We’re going to break it down into a couple of easy steps. Assign everyone a number in your Fireteam for starters, to make it simpler. Essentially, you’re going to be running a strat where everyone buffs up together, and with each pylon that gets cleared in the encounter, one more party member stays behind to defend it while the rest rotate around and buff up before the next wave of enemies.
For example, it’s going to look a little like this when it comes to mechanics. This helpful graphic by Reddit user RealyRayly shows off the four separate areas where your Fireteam will want to eventually gather to ensure that everyone’s activating the Enlightened buff at the same time. Essentially, you’re all going to buff up together at Area 1 by the entrance as marked, then leave players 1 and 2 behind to defend it while everyone else rotates clock-wise. Once the second area is clear, leave player 3 behind while the remaining players rotate again before everyone refreshes the buffs by accessing the boxes closest to them and clearing this new area.
You’re going to rinse and repeat the above strategy, leaving one player behind at every spot after the first one until you end up with the following configuration: Players 1 and 2 at Area 1, Player 3 at Area 2, Player 4 at Area 3, Players 5 and 6 at Area 4. In order for Player 3 and Player 4 to properly refresh their buffs without interrupting a very fragile tethering situation, they’re going to have to travel through the portals back to Area 2 to refresh their buffs once they’re both rendered solo defenders. Activating all the different areas will give players some freedom to take care of the rest of the encounter as normal, so long as they’re refreshing using the exact setup above.
