How to Unlock the Hotel in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Kapp’n’s Family Hotel has arrived in Animal Crossing New Horizons, allowing you to curate unique spaces for island visitors. This feature takes a bit of work to unlock, though, so you may need some help figuring out how to get the Hotel.

The Hotel grants access to some unique gameplay mechanics you won’t find anywhere else, making it a spot you’ll want to gain access to as soon as possible. If you’re eager to start exploring this location, here’s how to unlock the Hotel in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to Get the Hotel in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The Hotel is unlocked automatically once you reach a three-star island rating and install the 3.0 update, along with a few additional requirements you need to meet for this process. When it’s available to visit, Isabelle will start the day with an announcement letting you know at which point you can venture to this location.

To unlock most buildings in ACNH, you have to place an outline, pay some Bells, and wait a few days for construction to be complete. This is not the case with the Hotel, though, as it simply appears once all of the requirements have been met.

Hotel Unlock Requirements in Animal Crossing New Horizons

There are quite a few requirements that need to be met before you unlock the Hotel in ACNH, most of which you’ll check off naturally while working your way up to a three-star island. If you want to know exactly what needs to be done, though, here are all the tasks that must be completed for it to appear.

• Update your game to version 3.0. The hotel is only available with this update installed.
• Have a three-star island rating. You can chat with Isabelle in resident services to check your island rating. If you don’t have Isabelle yet, keep working through all the quests given to you by Tom Nook and generally progressing your island to get her there.
• Have K.K. Slider perform on your island. This happens automatically after your island reaches three stars. He’ll perform in the plaza, right in front of the resident services building.
• Upgrade your museum to a building. It starts off as a tent, but can be upgraded into a large building by donating 15 items to Blathers once he arrives on the island in this tent.
• Unlock Kapp’n’s boat tours. He’ll show up at the pier on your island a day after your island reaches three stars and K.K. Slider performs.

Hotel Location in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The location of the Hotel is slightly different for all players, as it spawns as an extension of your pier in ACNH. Depending on the base island you chose at the very beginning of the game, your pier location is unique.

For all players, though, it can be found either on the western or eastern beach, so the Hotel is found there, too. You can also check your map to see where your pier is located if you’re unsure. The Hotel can be found at the very end of the pier, right before Kapp’n’s boat.
