There are nearly 500 unique villagers you may encounter while playing Animal Crossing New Horizons, but you can only have 10 on your island, which can make it tough to decide which ones you want. Some characters are extra difficult to unlock, too, as is the case for Mineru.

Mineru is a special Zelda collaboration villager, which means the process for meeting her looks a bit different than most other characters. If you’re interested in finding her but unsure how to do so, here’s how to get Mineru in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

To get Mineru on your island, you must obtain and scan a valid Zelda amiibo. The vast majority of villagers can be unlocked for free and simply show up at your island campsite randomly or can be met on mystery islands, but a select group is locked behind amiibos, which means you must put in some additional work to get them.

Mineru is a Zelda collaboration villager, so the only way to meet her is by using an amiibo. You’ll never encounter her otherwise. She also only unlocks with certain specific Zelda amiibo, not all of them, as some items in this collection unlock Tulin, another exclusive villager, instead.

To actually get Mineru on your island, you need to:

  • Acquire a valid Zelda amiibo. Only certain ones actually summon Mineru, so make sure you review the list below to grab one that actually recruits her.
  • Head over to resident services. This is the building right in the center of your Plaza where Tom Nook and Isabelle can be found hanging out every day.
  • Interact with the ABD. This is the green ATM machine located in the right corner of the building.
  • Choose the “Invite amiibo camper” option. This will open the amiibo page so you can scan the amiibo of your choosing.
  • Scan your amiibo. When prompted to do so, touch your amiibo to one of the NFC touchpoints, which are either one of the joysticks, to summon Mineru to your campsite.
  • Fulfill Mineru’s daily requests and keep inviting her back for three days. Each day, Mineru will ask you for a specific item. Craft the requested item and give it to her. Invite her back for two additional days to gain the option to invite her to live permanently on your island.
