Kapp’n Family Hotel

Some familiar faces from previous Animal Crossing titles have finally found their way to New Horizons with the arrival of the Kapp’n Family Hotel. It’s a new facility you can visit on the pier. The family wants to work together to bring in guests from off the island, and it’s up to you to help them make this dream a reality.

Decorating Guest Rooms

You can help them by decorating guest rooms in the hotel. There are various themes you can decorate with to curate the space for every unique type of villager you might come across. You can use both the furniture that’s provided and matches the theme, as well as any items you might’ve previously unlocked on your own.

Hotel Tickets

Upon finishing decorating a room, you get to claim a special new currency called Hotel Tickets. They can be exchanged in the souvenir shop, which is in the lobby of the hotel, to claim exclusive rewards you can’t find anywhere else. This includes a wide array of hotel-themed items, like mugs, snowglobes, shirts, as well as loads of other rarities like beds, playground equipment, and more.

Hotel Mannequin Outfits

The hotel lobby has a couple of mannequins you can interact with to borrow the clothing on them or change the outfit that’s displayed on them. All hotel guests can also equip these outfits, so you can essentially put together the looks you want them to wear and equip the mannequins with them.

Amiibo Vistors

Any compatible Amiibo you might have can be used at the hotel to invite specific guests you want to have stay there. You can activate them by visiting the front desk inside the hotel lobby.

Craft Special Island Goods

Tom Nook is scheming as always, and he wants you to craft special island goods to help promote the hotel. Requested island goods can be viewed at a special box on the pier outside the hotel. After selecting one, you can craft and submit it to the box to claim Hotel Tickets as a reward.

Expanded Storage and Storage Changes

Your house storage is getting even bigger, as the overall cap can be upgraded to 7,000, then to 9,000 as the maximum. Prior to this update, the limit was 5,000, so it’s quite a big jump.

With this update, items that previously couldn’t be stored now can be. This includes trees, flowers, and shrubs, allowing you to hold onto important items and redesign your island with ease.

Resetti’s Reset Service

Resetti’s got a new business up and running called Resetti’s Reset Service. You can chat with him and choose from a few different options for quickly cleaning up large chunks of your island at once, including specific areas you choose, the beach, and the entire island.

When you ask him to clean up an area, you’ll be presented with additional options depending on what he finds there. If there are flowers, for example, he’ll ask if you want to throw them away, store them, or leave them as is.

Luna’s New Dream World – Slumber Island

If you decide to enter a deep slumber in bed, you’ll now be whisked away to Luna’s new Dream World, which is called Slumber Island. You can create up to three of your own Slumber Islands, with various sizes available to choose from for each one.

On these islands, you can do anything you want, which essentially means it’s a vast empty space you can use for whatever. While visiting Slumber Island, you can:

  • Decorate with items you’ve previously obtained.
  • Place trees, flowers, and bushes.
  • Terraform cliffs and rivers.
  • Build bridges and inclines.
  • Change the time of day and weather.
  • Summon your island residents.
  • Play with friends to perform all previously mentioned activities.

Bulk Crafting

We can finally craft more than one of any item at a time with the addition of bulk crafting in this update. When making an item, you can change the output number to determine how many you’re making at once, as long as you have the resources to do so.

New Collaborations

Some fresh collaboration items are arriving in this update. As you help build up the hotel, you’ll eventually gain access to Nintendo items, including assets like game systems and retro toys. If you have a Nintendo Online membership, these gaming systems can be used to play specific retro games.

Through the Nook Shopping machine, you can also find new LEGO items. These items are composed of vibrant LEGO bricks stacked together. This includes assets like a sofa, a fireplace, a t-shirt, a table, wallpaper, and much more.

If you have compatible The Legend of Zelda Amiibo, you can scan them to gain access to an array of exclusive collaboration items. Items you can unlock include Rupees, clothing, furniture, and two special villagers named Mineru and Tulin.

Splatoon also has a collaboration with two special unlockable villagers named Cece and Viché. You can purchase some additional Splatoon goodies from the Nook Shopping machine.
