Best Attributes to Level Up in Metaphor ReFantazio

You can't just put them all on damage...right?

Metaphor: ReFantazio has several ways of character progression in the game. The first thing you need to learn is what attributes to improve so you can breeze through the game or build into a specific archetype in your head. You won’t know what to go for until you see and unlock some of the archetypes, so it is best to know about them before you start allocating some attribute points. Here are the best attributes you should level up in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

What Attributes Should You Level Up First in Metaphor ReFantazio?

There are only five main attributes in Metaphor: ReFantazio:

  • Strength (St)
  • Magic (Ma)
  • Endurance (En)
  • Agility (Ag)
  • Luck (Lk)

Each level grants you one attribute point to spend, so you must be careful when distributing the attribute points. You can’t refund those attribute points willy-nilly. So, you need to know what each stat contributes to your overall power.

Strength gives you more power with melee attacks. This includes both normal attacks and those skills that deal physical, blunt, slashing, and piercing damage to foes.

For Magic, it gives you more power to magical attacks or basically anything that isn’t physical damage. This also strengthens the power of healers, so it is good to keep this in mind when you are planning to switch archetypes frequently.

The Endurance stat is mainly for the character’s overall defenses. You’ll take less damage from all sources, giving you enough survivability to last a few more rounds before needing to heal.

Agility is mainly for your speed, accuracy chance, and evade chance. Most of these are insignificant when you think about it, but if you combine them, they can be a bit useful.

The Luck stat is the most “casual” stat out of everything. It basically just gives you more chances to get items when defeating foes.

Best Attributes To Max Out in Metaphor: ReFantazio

So, what attributes should you go for after learning all of these? Logically speaking, increasing your damage through Magic and Strength only matters if you can lessen the amount of turns it takes to eliminate a foe.

For example, if it takes you two Diagonal Slashes (150 damage each) to defeat a foe that has 300 HP, you’ll need a lot of Strength to increase that damage to 300, so the foe dies in one turn rather than two. In a way, increasing Strength or Magic is useless in this case.

The same logic applies to Endurance when taking damage. However, the biggest difference is that the enemies grow stronger as you go through the story, meaning they gain more HP and deal more damage.

Following these conditions, the best way to allocate attributes is to spread them around each stat, emphasizing Endurance rather than dealing damage (Strength and Magic).

Since enemies have more variety in dealing damage against you, increasing your durability is better. You still want to keep on par with your strength so that it doesn’t take an extra turn to defeat your foes.

Agility isn’t that great because speed doesn’t matter unless you are in long battles. Evasion and accuracy are too inconsistent.

However, Luck is more for the casual playthrough. Since you want to have more Reeves to experience more things outside the story, you can sacrifice some player power to get more items.

If you have played the demo or prologue, you can actually transfer your save file to continue where you last ended.
