The Fastest Ways to Farm Kuiper Shards in The First Descendant

Millions of Kuiper Shards are waiting to be looted!

Strengthening your Descendant after finishing the campaign takes a long time in The First Descendant. The biggest power boost you can get is resetting your Descendants and weapons to equip upgraded modules as you improve your module capacities. However, upgrading your modules will require thousands or even millions of Kuiper Shards, depending on your build. Farming these is easier than you think. Here are the best Kuiper Shard farming strategies in The First Descendant.

The Best Ways to Farm Kuiper Shards in The First Descendant

Kuiper Shards drop from almost every monster in the game. Some elites, commanders, and bosses give more Kuiper Shards than regular monsters, but if you can get hundreds of normal enemies and only a few elites, you would rather have the big horde of enemies when it comes to Kuiper Shard farming. Several viable farming strategies will exist because of the different drop quantities per enemy. Here are some of the best Kuiper Shard farming strategies:

Echo Swamp – Abandoned Refinery Unit (Hard Mode)

Estimate: 350,000 to 400,000 Kuiper Shards per hour.

The Abandoned Refinery Unit in Echo Swamp is an extermination mission where you must defeat enemies that spawn in five condensed locations around the objective. You start at the top of the battlefield and clear two waves of enemies. The next wave of enemies will come from below, and you have to clear them, preferably on top of the terrain. This makes Bunny the perfect farming Descendant because her Lightning Emission build can hit the enemies below while you are on top.

You want to be on top because you need to trigger the next objective by going to one of the pathways to the underground. You might need to double back if you drop from a different area.

This mission is perfect for Kuiper Shard farming because it is quick to finish and spawns several elites and a commander at the end. Your goal is to finish each run under 30-40 seconds. Playing solo and a non-Bunny Descendant can be a lot slower, but it is still efficient.

Here are some other notable materials you’ll get from the mission:

Sterile Land – Anticipated Ambush Point (Hard Mode)

Estimate: 300,000+ Kuiper Shards per hour.

From my experience, the Anticipated Ambush Point in Sterile Land is one of the most farmed Kuiper Shard locations. Players always farm this spot, and someone typically stays near the beacon (mission start) to restart it. Six sets of enemies spawn close to each other, but one at a time. There will be a commander at the end, and you’ll finish the mission after defeating it. These missions typically end in 30 seconds or less.

Even if you run solo, the beacon is so close that you can restart it immediately. It is an easy way to farm Kuiper Shard, and you can do it mindlessly without thinking of anything else.

Here are some other notable materials you’ll get from the mission:

  • Artificial Biometal

White-night Gulch – Fortress Outskirts (Normal or Hard Mode)

Estimate: 400,000+ Kuiper Shards per hour (if group)

The Fortress Outskirts mission in White-night Gulch spawns seemingly endless waves of enemies. The mission starts with a simple monster elimination objective, which you can finish in less than five seconds. The next objective is to start the Vulgus device and prevent the Vulgus from aborting the hack.

There will be four Vulgus devices to hack, each with several waves of enemies to attack the point. You can activate all four Vulgus devices simultaneously, which makes the farm lucrative and, most importantly, fun. After hacking, you’ll need to pick up an object from all four devices and deposit it in the middle. The next objective leads you to a nearby cliff with one set of enemies and a commander. Once you clear them, you can open the mission summary and restart the mission.

If you can get a party, you can designate roles for each player. You need someone to clear the first wave and restart the mission. Next, you need someone in the end to eliminate the commander. Both players will help defend the devices and then split up after depositing the objects. You can designate more roles with a bigger party, but it isn’t necessary.

Here are some other notable materials you’ll get from the mission:

If you want to speed up your Kuiper Shard farming, you can buy a Kuiper Shard 30% Gain boost from the shop. It’ll be worth it if you can commit to one long session of doing these farming strategies. You can get millions of Kuiper Shards, and that would be enough to build at least 3 or more Descendants already.
