What is the Best Submachine Gun in COD MW2 Season 2?

SUBmit to the meta.

None of the new weapons in Season 2 were submachine guns this time around, but plenty of changes were made to weapons across the board in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Some of the best SMGs were even hit to a degree and the meta could see a shift in the near future.

With Ranked Play now available as well, most players want to know what the best submachine gun choices are in COD MW2. Three of them are still incredibly powerful, and in our Modern Warfare 2 SMG guide, we’ll break down what makes them so good and which one reigns supreme.

COD MW2 Season 2 – What is the Best Submachine Gun?

Three submachine guns rule the run and gun class in Season 2: the Fennec, the Vaznev-9k, and the Lachmann Sub. In the current state of the game, the title of best is a tie between the Fennec and the Vaznev. Up close and personal, the best pick is definitely the Fennec based on TTK alone. The Vaz could still be the best overall due to the control it has at longer rangers, but the latest nerf hurt the range just a bit.

That means in most game modes, you’ll likely do much better with a Fennec as a submachine gun player. In Ranked Play though, the Fennec is banned from use, which is another point towards being the best. When you’re in Ranked Play for COD MW2, the Vaznev-9k is the best SMG without a doubt.

The Lachmann Sub comes in at a close third for our best submachine guns in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, and it comes in second for Ranked Play. It has just a bit more damage than the Vaznev per shot, but its attachment choices hold it back and the weapon can’t balance recoil and mobility.
