Is Afghan Coming to COD Modern Warfare 2? – Answered

More MW2 in MW2?

There was no doubt that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be full of remastered maps with each new season and that remains true for Season 2 in February. One of the latest images we got was for a return of Afghan, a classic map from the 2009 version of MW2.

However, this image is used as one of the reveals for new points of interest in Al Mazrah for COD: Warzone 2. With that said, does this mean that Afghan is on the way to the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer in Season 2, or will players have to continue wishing for these remasters?

COD Modern Warfare 2 – Is the Afghan Map in Multiplayer?

For now, the simple answer is no, Afghan will not be making its way into multiplayer. More specifically, there will be no addition of Afghan for Season 2 of MW2 and Warzone 2. However, that does not mean we will not see the classic desert map appear in a later season and we can explain why.

There are plenty of points of interest in Al Mazrah that are recreations of classic Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 maps. One of those was Dome and we are now seeing that map added to the MW2 multiplayer at the launch of Season 2 on February 15. Dome was not the only remaster in Al Mazrah either. High Rise was another map that was integrated into the Warzone 2 map.

So, will we see Afghan added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer down the line? It certainly seems likely with the way that Infinity Ward is handling the game. They appear to be relying on the classics and assets they already have prepared through Warzone 2. But plans can always change in COD.
