Ranked Play

Ranked Play is always one of the most requested features when a new Call of Duty launches and that was no different with Modern Warfare 2. With Season 2 of COD MW2 around the corner, we finally have all the details about Ranked Play and what we can expect in the mode.

There is a lot of ground to cover with the most recent blog post from Infinity Ward and most of the details are promising. In our Ranked Play guide for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, we’ll cover all of the features expected at launch and the rewards that will follow.

COD MW2 Season 2 – Ranked Play Features

Despite Modern Warfare 2 being developed by Infinity Ward, the Ranked Play component of Season 2 is being done in collaboration with Treyarch. That means we can expect many of the classic Treyarch features such as Skill Divisions, competitive rule sets, and rewards for those at each rank. Below you can find a list of all the main features.

MW2 Ranked Play Features:

  • Seven Skill Divisions ranging from Bronze to Iridescent. There will be a top 250 slot as well.
  • Skill Division Operator Skins based on your highest rank for the season.
  • Calling cards, emblems, and charms are also expected as rewards in Ranked Play.
  • CDL-approved rules will be in effect. This could be the current CDL rule set MW2, or it will include GAs.
  • CDL maps such as Zarqwa, Mercado, Hotel, Al Bagra, El Asilo, and Embassy will be in the rotation.
  • Skill Divisions will be displayable.
  • There will be 50 ranks separate from divisions that reward players with skins every five ranks.

One of the largest concerns will certainly be which weapons are allowed in Ranked Play for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2. CDL rules in MW2 already ban most items and guns, but weapons like the M4 and the Kastov-74u are allowed. Whether these remain or not will be important.
