Hoyoverse has had quite a time trying to keep the lid on some of their future characters in Honkai: Star Rail, cracking down on many content creators going live with leaked information by striking copyrights and DMCAs. But if Genshin Impact is any indication, it’s not likely to stop any time soon, and sure enough, we have our reveal for the mystery character first seen on the Fables About the Stars YouTube video on Honkai: Star Rail’s official channel.
Who Actually is Black Swan in Honkai: Star Rail?
There’s not a lot that is known about Black Swan when we look at her in the canon version of Honkai: Star Rail. As far as we know, she hasn’t appeared in the story, nor has she been referenced aside from very small pieces of information. One of which is the YouTube video attached to this article.Â
However, it is theorized that due to her foresight of certain events, she may be part of the Memokeepers, a faction underneath the Aeon Fuli. You may recognize some of these based on the woman who came through some sort of wormhole mirror onboard the Parlor Car of the Astral Express. The Forgotten Hall is shrouded in just as much mystery, but the faction Garden of Recollection, is intent on preserving memories and collecting them, even going so far as to shed their mortal selves.
As for her kit, well, we’ll know more about that in the future. Black Swan is predicted to be a Wind Nihility character. She’s really coming to take over my Sampo’s job… And here I thought it would be too soon for Hoyoverse to be coming out with their Five-Star replacements of Four-Star characters.
True to her style, Black Swan uses Cards of Fate, effects that are triggered every so often by damage over time, and it’ll deal increased debuffs against enemies. Debuffs that can affect nearby enemies, reduce damage or ignore damage by a certain percentage, and more. Because these are leaks and such early reveals of her kit, we can’t promise that this will remain the same, whether they will buff her or nerf her in the upcoming months. But it does seem that she would be a much more overpowered Sampo if that is any indication of what her kit will look like. Once she’s revealed, I will then painstakingly spend hours on Honkai: Star Rail trying to figure out a way to explain it better.
