Where to Find Mongrels in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy features several mongrel types you’ll find throughout the main story. Some are exclusive to certain questlines, while others spawn randomly in the wild. We’ll get into quest-exclusive ones later to hold off on spoilers and instead focus on dark and regular mongrels.

Dark mongrels are the most common type you’ll see in the game. When you visit mongrel dens in areas like Hogsmeade Valley and Hogwarts Valley, you’ll usually find groups of dark mongrels waiting for a fight. You can also encounter them during battle arenas waves, which you can find in North Ford Bog, Feldcroft and the Forbidden Forest’s Dark Arts Battle Arena if you have it unlocked.

Normal mongrels, on the other hand, are rarer than their dark counterparts. Rather than finding them in dens and the battle arena, you’ll spot them surrounding these areas. For example, while the Hogsmeade Valley mongrel den spawned Dark mongrels, you can find a few regular ones just south of this location.

They also spawn alongside poachers and other human enemies, particularly in regions like the Forbidden Forest. Check around bandit camps and the forest’s paths for better chances of finding them!

All Mongrel Types in Hogwarts Legacy

There are five different mongrel enemies in Hogwarts Legacy that you can encounter throughout the main story. Dark and regular mongrels are the most common, while others are rarer or spawn in specific locations. Nonetheless, below are all five you’ll find:

  • Mongrel – A regular wolf-like enemy that spawns in areas like the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Valley.
  • Dark Mongrel – A more common version of regular mongrels that appear in mongrel dens and Battle Arenas. You can also find them in the overworld, like regular mongrels.
  • Death’s Dark Mongrel – You’ll only find these mongrels during Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial in the main storyline.
  • The Grim – An Infamous Foe that spawns alongside the White Wolf. You’ll find it west of Keenbridge in a cave.
  • The White Wolf – An Infamous Foe that appears with The Grim. You’ll find it west of Keenbridge in a cave.
