When Does the Destiny 2 Lightfall The Root of Nightmares Raid Release?

It's almost here.

Every Destiny 2 expansion brings one of the most difficult challenges in the game, the Raid. Raids consist of six Fireteam members having to balance mechanic-heavy boss fights, platforming puzzles, and usually a surprise or two. The raids don’t release along the expansions, however. Bungie gives players some time to gear up and make their way through the campaign before dropping the raid. So, when does The Root of Nightmares Destiny 2 Lightfall raid Release? We have the answer for you below.

When Does the Destiny 2 Lightfall The Root of Nightmares Raid Release?

The Root of Nightmares Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid will release on March 10, 2023, at 9 AM PST. While we don’t know much about the contents of the raid officially, we do have a bit of flavor text that Bungie gave in the announcement tweet.

“Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep.”

If you’ve completed the Lightfall campaign, you probably have some speculation as to who is the boss of this raid, and after some potential data mining, it seems like we know a decent chunk of what to expect. We’re not here to spoil that for you though, so feel free to look at that on your own if you don’t care about spoilers.

Contest Mode will be enabled for the first 48 hours of the Raid. Contest Mode restricts the power level and arsenal of each player. It’s a way to level the playing field for the World’s First race and helps create a fair chance for every team. After 48 hours, Contest Mode will be lifted, and you’ll be able to complete the raid as normal without any restrictions on your gear and power.

That’s when The Root of Nightmares Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid releases. Check out all of the new weapons in the game to start crafting your perfect loadout ahead of launch day.
