When does Diablo Immortal take place?

Diablo Immortal takes place between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. Players will once again be exploring Sanctuary and will meet up with Deckard Cain. During the events of Diablo Immortal, players will need to track down the shards of the corrupt World Stone that were spread throughout existence when Tyreal shattered it at the end of Diablo 2.

It will be up to players to explore the eight different zones that make up Sanctuary and find and destroy all of the scattered fragments. Diablo Immortal will be filled with loot that players will need to track down to be able to assist them on their journey. Both Legendary items and Set items make a return, allowing players to lean heavily into different build types for their characters.
