What is the Best Class in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

Will it be the hulking brute or the insane wizard for you?

Warhammer 40K: Darktide is right around the corner (and available right now in a pre-order beta), meaning players are ready to jump into the Hive City of Tertium and take on all sorts of heretical opponents. When jumping in for the first time, you’re given the choice of four different classes with five different character slots, though you might be wondering which class you should pick. Here’s the best class for you to pick in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Which Class Should You Pick in Warhammer 40K: Darktide?

When it comes to class choice, it’ll depend mostly on your playstyle and how familiar you are with Darktide’s combat. Each character naturally has a different level of difficulty, so who you choose to play could result in a drastically different experience. If you’re new to this sort of melee-focused game or didn’t dabble in Fatshark’s previous Vermintide 2, then your best bets are either Veteran or Ogryn. Veteran is the absolute easiest by far, being your standard soldier class with an easy-to-understand kit. Ogryn is easy to play, though sees you taking on the role of the team’s tank. If you aren’t comfortable with that responsibility off the bat, then you may want to gravitate towards Veteran instead.

Now, for those of you who have played Vermintide 2, then Zealot will be your next best bet. They aren’t a hard class per se, but seeing as they’re a harder class to play than the other two, this should only be selected by experienced players. For those who consider themselves experts on the Vermintide 2 formula though, particularly in the incredibly difficult arts of Sienna Fuegonasus, then Psyker will be a good call. We’d still suggest the majority try this class last, but for Sienna lovers, this class will be much easier to pick up than most.
