What is the Barbaric Beast Wheel’s Weakness in Persona 3 Reload? – Answered (P3R)

Well, that's an unexpected weakness.

As you explore Tartarus in Persona 3, you’ll encounter various boss fights that are challenging to conquer if you’re unfamiliar with their weaknesses. Barbaric Beast Wheel is one of the first examples you find, so we’re here to tell you how to defeat this boss and its Magic Hand shadows.

What is the Barbaric Beast Wheel’s Weakness in Persona 3 Reload?

The Barbaric Beast Wheel boss is weak to wind-type skills and resistant to fire-type skills. While regular attacks and abilities like the protagonist’s fire attacks from Orpheus are ineffective against the boss, other attacks, such as those from Yukari’s Io persona, are effective for knocking down the enemy, giving you additional opportunities to wear down the Magic Hand shadows and initiate an all-out attack.

Similarly, Magic Hands have opposite weaknesses and resistances. While they resist wind attacks, they’re weak against fire-type skills. In other words, while Orpheus’ fire attacks are ineffective against the boss, they are great for tackling these smaller enemies.

One way to approach this fight is to use Yukari’s Io persona to target the Barbaric Beast Wheel and the protagonist’s Orpheus persona to fight the Magic Hands with fire attacks. However, depending on your personas and available SP, you can change this slightly to make things easier or conserve your points for later. For example, since I had the Angel persona for the protagonist early on alongside Orpheus, I could immediately dish out wind and fire attacks, occasionally swapping them with Junpei’s persona for fire attacks and Yukari for additional wind skills when needed.

In short, as long as you have Yukari and the protagonist active in battle, you can use their respective Personas to knock down the Barbaric Beast Wheel and Magic Hands quickly, giving you plenty of opportunities to land all-out attacks and defeat them in no time. In emergencies, Junpei can use Hermes to dish out some extra fire attacks for the Magic Hands, allowing the others to focus on the boss.
