Even though the game is graphically stunning, Hogwarts Legacy actually runs on Unreal Engine 4 instead of Unreal Engine 5. This is because the game has been in development for way longer than Unreal Engine 5 has been announced for.
Avalanche Software must be pushing Unreal Engine 4 to the absolute limit with Hogwarts Legacy, since the engine was originally released in 2014!
Achieving such a solid mix of graphics and performance on a legacy engine (pun intended) is quite the feat to be proud of. Although it had tons of doubters, Hogwarts Legacy is shaping up to be game of the year potential.
