Stardew Valley isn’t just about watering your crops, feeding your farm animals, or even exploring the deepest depths of the mines. Pelican Town is also filled with all sorts of secrets to discover and mysteries to solve. Most of these mysteries are quite cryptic, like the ‘You’ve got some new ideas to sleep on…’ message that sometimes appears in-game with no further explanation.
If you’ve found yourself perplexed by this message, you’re not alone. Here is what the cryptic message means for you and your farm.
What Does ‘You’ve Got Some New Ideas to Sleep On’ Mean in Stardew Valley?
The ‘You’ve got some new ideas to sleep on…’ message in Stardew Valley pops up on screen to indicate that you’ve just gathered enough experience points to go up a skill level. There’s no need to do anything, it’s just a little note to let you know you’ve levelled up in some way.
The next time you go to sleep, you will wake up in the morning with a new skill point in any of the five key Stardew Valley skills. You can get an indication of what skill will increase based on what you were doing when you saw the message. If you were plucking crops, your farming skills would go up. If you were mining, it would be your mining skill. So on and so forth.
How to Level Up in Stardew Valley
Every time you do anything on your farm, like water crops, fish, mine, defeat a monster, or forage an item, you will gain experience points. So, there is no need to go out of your way to earn skill points. You will naturally gather them as you play.
There are five key skills that you can level up in Stardew Valley:
Each skill can be leveled up a total of ten times. The amount of experience points you need to reach the next level grows exponentially as your skill level increases, so reaching level ten is no easy feat. Especially when it comes to reaching level ten for all five skills. Doing so is strongly recommended, however, as you will unlock a whole new area once you do.
What Happens When You Level Up All Your Skills in Stardew Valley?
Once you reach level ten in all five skills, you will unlock a secret area called Mastery Cave. Mastery Cave can be found in Cindersnap Forest near the bottom portion of the map.
Mastery Cave will be blocked off until you get to level ten in all of your skills. But once you do, the cave will open, and you will have a new experience system to work off called Mastery Points. Instead of a certain skill going up automatically when you get enough EXP like the old points system, you will fill a Mastery Gauge every time you earn EXP.
Once you earn 10,000 EXP, you will earn your first Mastery Point, which can be redeemed at Mastery Cave on any one of the five skill pillars there. Each time you unlock a skill pillar, you will receive a host of incredible rewards related to that skill. We have a full guide to Mastery Cave, so check that out if you want to know more about what awaits you in the mysterious cavern.
