If you’ve been playing Stardew Valley for a long time, you will be all too familiar with the usual tree varieties you see growing around Pelican Town. But there’s a new tree on the block thanks to the 1.6 Update! Mystic Trees are a whole new variety of trees that you will want to add to your Tapper Farm as soon as possible. Here, we will teach you everything you need to know to build a thriving Mystic Syrup farm in Stardew Valley.
How to Unlock Mystic Trees in Stardew Valley
You can unlock the crafting recipe for Mystic Tree Seeds by Mastering the foraging skill in Mastery Cave. This involves delving into another 1.6 Update mechanic, Mastery Points. Mastery Points are a new points system introduced for those who have completely maxed out their skills to level 10. Once you’ve reached this epic level of skill in Stardew Valley, you can access an exclusive cave found in Cindersap Forest called Mastery Cave.Â
Mastery Cave has five skill pillars dedicated to each skill. You can trade one Mastery Point to Master any of the five skills: fishing, farming, mining, combat, and foraging. Mastering a skill grants you three rewards related to the skill. One of the foraging skill rewards is the crafting recipe for a Mystic Tree Seed.
How to Craft a Mystic Tree in Stardew Valley
So you’ve Mastered the foraging skill and successfully got your hands on the recipe for a Mystic Tree Seed. That is the hard step done, now you just need to craft and plant your Mystic Tree Seeds. Mystic Tree Seeds require the following materials to create:
- (5) Pinecones
- (5) Acorns
- (5) Maple Seeds
- (5) Mahogany Seeds
These seeds are extremely easy to get your hands on, and you likely already have a large collection from all the times you’ve had to collect wood to craft almost anything in Stardew Valley. But just in case you don’t, or you’re normal and prefer to sell things rather than hoard hundreds of unnecessary items, you can find all of these seeds by cutting down their respective trees. Cutting down a Maple Tree, for example, gives you wood and Maple Seeds. You can also use your Pickaxe to dig fresh seeds out of the ground whenever you see them.
The only seeds that might give you a little trouble are the Mahogany Seeds. Mahogany Trees yield Hardwood, and they are rarer than the other tree varieties that grow throughout the Valley. Thankfully, they aren’t so rare that you will have to spend a long time grinding for them. You can find Mahogany Seeds by cutting down Mahogany Trees and Hardwood Stumps in the Secret Woods, or by killing the Slimes in the Secret Woods. Â
How to Grow a Mystic Tree in Stardew Valley
After collecting the 20x seeds you need for the Mystic Seed, find the recipe in the crafting section of the menu and create as many as you can or want. Then, you’re ready to plant! Placing is very important when planting trees in Stardew Valley. You can, technically place them side by side, but they won’t be able to grow to maturity if they are too close together, and that means you can’t place Tappers on your Mystic Trees to collect Mystic Syrup.
Making sure there is at least one square of free space around every seed is essential for unhindered growth. It also makes it easier to move around the trees when it’s time to harvest your Mystic Syrup!
