What Does the Bane of Arthropods Enchantment Do in Minecraft?

Bane of arthropods is a sword and axe enchantment in Minecraft that increases your damage against spiders, silverfish and endermites. The damage multiplier is much stronger than sharpness, but it doesn’t work on other players or monsters like zombies, skeletons or creepers. The damage boost only applies to arthropod enemies! Bane of arthropods also temporarily slows on hit, allowing you to escape from the fight if you need to.

Bane of arthropods comes in various levels from one to five. The higher it is, the more bonus damage you’ll do to arthropod enemies. While an EXP level of one provides low odds of giving you bane of arthropods level one, an EXP level of 30 has a high chance of giving bane of arthropods level four and, rarely, level five.

Unlike certain treasure enchantments like mending, you can get bane of arthropods through an enchanting table. While enchanted books from chests and librarian village may also spawn this, you can use an enchanting table to get bane of arthropods on a sword or axe. However, you can’t get this enchantment alongside sharpness, cleaving or smite unless you use cheat commands.

Minecraft is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and mobile devices through the official website. For more information about the game, check out How to Breed Axolotls in Minecraft and Best Ways to Get the Mending Enchantment in Minecraft.
