One of the stats for weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds that does not fully explain itself is affinity and it can be a crucial stat for any player’s build. This guide will explain what affinity does in Monster Hunter Wilds.
What Does Affinity Mean in Monster Hunter Wilds?

The affinity stat for weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds means critical chance, or the chance that your weapon will deliver a critical hit. Critical hits are physical attacks that do more damage than a normal hit would.
Critical hits in the game do 25% increased damage and also decrease sharpness more than normal hits. Players can see if they have delivered a critical hit during battle by way of a pink line icon above the damage number.
Some weapons can even cause negative affinity, which means a chance to deliver 25% decreased damage compared to a normal hit. This is noted in battle with a blue line icon underneath the damage number.
How to Increase Affinity in Monster Hunter Wilds
Players can increase their affinity by equipping weapons, armor, and decorations that raise Affinity specifically. Weapons will show their affinity stat in the info window before crafting, some armor may have skills that increase the stat, and some decorations may raise affinity for specific weapons or attacks.
