Manor Lords is slowly getting major updates throughout its early access period on Steam with new systems, systems, and even an entire engine overhaul. The game has a mostly great tutorial, and in-game help section, but not everything is fully explained. Horses are one of the few animals in Manor Lords that players can purchase along with oxen and mules. But what exactly are Horses used for in Manor Lords? Here is everything you need to know.

What Are Horses Used for in Manor Lords?

Horses are used at trading posts, allowing traders to move larger quantities of goods via carts. This is their only purpose in Manor Lords at the moment, and traders exclusively use them. They are not used for moving around materials in your village or helping out in farming.

The developers likely have plans to add more use to the horse, and it’s prominently featured in the game’s key artwork as well, but for now, the horse only meets the trading post’s needs. Trading is possible without a horse, but it’s significantly faster with it.

Purchasing a Horse in Manor Lords

Ordering a horse is fairly simple in Manor Lords, and you can pay a fee of 30 Regional Wealth at one of the following buildings to order it by clicking the Horse icon:

• Hitching Post
• Small Stable
• Trading Post

The price for the horse is the same regardless of where you buy it from. If you buy it through the initial hitching post for some reason, make sure you either upgrade it to a stable or have another hitching post for the horse, as it will eventually run away if there isn’t a place to hitch it.

We highly recommend that you wait till you have proper trading set up in Manor Lords, and enough people assigned to the Trading Post before spending the precious 30 regional wealth, especially during the early game.

Once you have some capital, you can set up a Livestock Trading Post, and import horses till your desired surplus amount is reached. This is obviously a move you should be considering once you have progressed a bit through the game, as horses are expensive, and so is opening trading routes.
