Although he only appears in one small portion of Baldur’s Gate 3, Redhammer the Deviser can play a pretty big role in some of the Act 3 quests. If you spoke to the women at the Water Queen’s House, then you have been asked to kill Redhammer in order to Avenge the Drowned, but the decision isn’t nearly that easy.
Should You Kill Redhammer the Deviser in BG3?
No, you should not kill Redhammer the Deviser in Baldur’s Gate 3. As a blanket statement, you are much better off leaving him alive because if he dies at any point, the Submersible is no longer usable. That means reaching the Iron Throne is out of the question. Of course, that leads to a whole string of effects you don’t want.
However, you should kill him after you have completed the Iron Throne. If you already started the quest with Flood Tide Allandra Grey, then she will appear back at the docks, wondering why you didn’t kill Redhammer the Deviser. At this point, I handed him over for execution and was given some brand-new armor in the process.

What Happens if You Kill Redhammer the Deviser?
If you kill Redhammer the Deviser before the Iron Throne, you will also kill Duke Ravengard in the process and all the Gondians that were captured. This also means disabling the Steel Watch Foundry will be much more difficult, and Zanner Toobin won’t be able to help much. Now taking down Gortash just got even tougher.
If you kill Redhammer after the Iron Throne is cleared, nothing bad happens. You get the reward from Allandra Grey, and she moves on with her own avenging quest. On the other side of that choice, sparing Redhammer the Deviser will cause the people of the Water Queen to attack you on-site. This is all a balancing act about choosing the right time to strike in BG3.
With Redhammer out of the way, it’s time to disable the Steel Watch Foundry in Baldur’s Gate 3.
