Regice Raid Guide for Pokemon GO

From January 18, 10:00 AM to January 25, 10:00 AM, local time, Regice will be featuring in 5-Star Raids. And while Ice Pokemon suffer from a diverse array of weaknesses, Regice isn’t a Primordial Legendary you should expect to defeat without a little preparation. Here’s everything you need to know to come out on top.

And yes, Regice can be Shiny!

First things first. You’re going to need at least 3 people to take on Regice, but the more the better. Once you have a few trainers, the Pokemon you select for the fight should include some of Regice’s most significant weaknesses, which are the following:

  • Fighting
  • Rock
  • Fire
  • Steel

Regice boasts some significant defense, so even high-level trainers might find themselves struggling, even with STAB moves.

Regice’s Move Pool for Fast Attacks is:

  • Frost Breath (Ice)
  • Rock Smash (Rock)
  • Lock-On (Normal)

Regice’s Move Pool for Charged Attacks is:

  • Blizzard (Ice)
  • Earthquake (Ground)
  • Focus Blast (Fighting)

As you can see, it has great coverage against many of the Pokemon that are strong against it. That’s why Regice raid isn’t a day at the skating rink. But there are a few Pokemon that will do exceptionally well against it. They are:

  • Charizard (Mega Y) with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
  • Blaziken (Mega) with Counter and Blast Burn
  • Charizard (Mega X) with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
  • Aerodactyl (Mega) with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
  • Lopunny (Mega) with Double Kick and Focus Blast
  • Terrakion with Double Kick and Sacred Sword
  • Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash

When using a Fire-Type Pokemon, it’s ideal to raid with Sunny Weather, as it will boost the effectiveness of those stats.

The Charizards and Blaziken have the highest time to win rating, with it generally taking between 10 and 11 minutes. But I know not all people have the good fortune of having the most meta Pokemon. For that reason I included Lopunny, a recent Mega, Terrakion, a recent Legendary, and Metagross, a standard Pokemon. These three Pokemon have a significantly larger time to win, but it is possible to take down Regice with them, especially if you’re surrounded by other good trainers.

The Pokemon and moves selected were chosen because they deal a significant amount of damage and those Pokemon take reduced damage from Regice’s moves.

Good luck, trainer!
