New Marvel Snap August 2023 Season Pass Card – Daken – Showcase, Decks, Counters, Synergies

Finally, some Wolverine synergy!

The discard deck theme is back on the Marvel Snap menu it seems, since August 2023 will feature a few new cards that will provide great support for the deck type as well as support for destroy decks. Let’s narrow it down and say that we’re getting a lot of Wolverine-like cards in the game and that they will cause a shake-up in the meta. The season pass card for August 2023 in Marvel Snap is Daken, the mutant son of Wolverine and Itsu. If you are wondering what decks you can use Daken in so that there’s some synergy going on, and if you should buy the Daken Season Pass in the first place, you’ve come to the right place, as this showcase will cover that and then some.

What Does Daken Do in Marvel Snap?

The effect of Daken is rather simple:

Daken

  • Cost: 3
  • Power: 4
  • On Reveal: Add the Muramasa Shard to your hand.

Muramasa Shard’s effect is where it becomes fun.

Muramasa Shard

  • Cost: 1
  • Power: 1
  • When this is discarded or destroyed, double Daken’s Power.

You may be thinking “How can I exploit Muramasa Shard multiple times in a match?”, and sure enough, we’ll go through these matters real quick.

How Good is Daken in Marvel Snap?

Daken is pretty decent, and you should not mess with Tha’ Ken, I KEN’T lie (I’ll votekick myself for this cringe lord-tier Barbie joke). Some players will definitely take it for a spin in a variety of decks such as:

  • Discard (decent 3-drop alongside Lady Sif that the deck actually needed).
  • Destroy (also a decent 3-drop, however, Venom and Deathlok are already good).
  • Surfer (Daken is a 3-drop, and Muramasa is a great filler on Turn 4 to play alongside another 3-drop if you didn’t play Nova already).

When it comes to countering Daken, cards like Cosmo can prevent the generation of Muramasa Shard (if you can guess where it will be dropped AND have priority), Shang-Chi would be a powerful play after Muramasa Shard and Nova grant their bonuses to Daken, and Professor X and Armor (for Muramasa Shard to prevent it from being destroyed).

Should I Buy the August Season Pass in Marvel Snap? Is it Worth Buying?

It’s entirely up to you. If you want to take the decks for a spin, especially if they show dominance in the meta, then sure. I will be pretty open and state that I will not buy the season pass. I will instead wait for the card to come in the next month’s Spotlight Cache and will purchase it through those means, or through Collector’s Tokens if it feels like it’s worth it.

That’s all for this showcase spotlight for Daken. Make sure to stay tuned to Prima Games’ Marvel Snap tag located under this article for the latest Marvel Snap content.
