When you loadout up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the M4 assault rifle is one of the first weapons that you’ll have access to, and there’s no surprise behind that. This assault rifle has been a staple in nearly every Modern Warfare game and that sentiment hasn’t changed with the latest release.
Players can always expect this weapon to unlock early due to how versatile the rifle truly is, and even as everyone starts to learn the meta, the M4 always proves to be a staunch contender. We’ll show you how to put together a powerful M4 loadout that will last you all the way to level 55 and beyond.
Modern Warfare 2 – Best M4 Loadout
Versatility is the name of the game with the M4, so we want to focus on a mix of range and speed when we put together a viable loadout. This build will be able to compete well anywhere from close to medium range and even longer in some cases. Below you can find each attachment.
- Receiver: M4
- Barrel: Hightower 20″ Barrel
- Muzzle: FTAC Castle Comp
- Underbarrel: Demo Firm Grip
- Rear Grip: XTEN Grip
- Stock: Demo Fade Pro Stock
Barrels are the most integral attachment slots and it’s where we’ll focus first. Both the Hightower 20″ Barrel and the FTAC Castle Comp will work together to ensure the M4 melts enemies at range. Not only is the recoil minimized, but the damage range and velocity will also increase.

Next, we need some speed attachments to help compensate for the stabilizing pieces. Those will include the XTEN Grip and the Demo Fade Pro Stock. These options will help with ADS speed, and in some cases, will help with the hip-fire capabilities of the weapon. But it’s mainly for aim speed and movement speed.
Our last pick is the Demo Firm Grip underbarrel slot. This is used for a bit of an extra boost to the recoil stability. If you feel you don’t need it, you can always opt for a red dot sight or a similar scope.
