There are plenty of challenging games on the market, and players can’t seem to get enough of them. Is Rise of the Ronin going to be added to the ever-growing list of Souls-like games, or is it going to be its own unique type of experience?
What Does Rise of the Ronin Play Like?
Much like previous Team Ninja games, Rise of the Ronin could be a difficult game that features Souls-like elements — similar to titles like Nioh or Wo-Long: Fallen Dynasty. However, having the choice of selectable difficulty options like Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger of Paradise, this title should be a bit more accessible to the general gaming public than other titles in the genre.
While some may scoff at the idea of having selectable difficulties in a game like this, it helps widen the audience and bring in a new set of players who may grow to love the gameplay while learning the basics of the genre. After that point, they can step into the world of more challenging Souls-like games, even tackling the From Software titles that have inspired this particular genre.
The ability to bring in multiplayer guests can also keep things interesting, especially if the other players are a bit more familiar with this type of gameplay. Players can watch and learn how these veterans of the craft can take down some of the more challenging enemies without breaking a sweat, all while enticing players to crank up the difficulty mid-session.
Does Rise of the Ronin Have A Loot System?
From hands-on previews of Rise of the Ronin, it does appear that Loot will be making a comeback, but it may not be as overwhelming as it was in games like Nioh. With a total of 2,000 loot slots, you’ll have plenty of items that you can find in this open-world adventure, so make sure that you’re prepared to spend some time checking out the menu with your custom character.
