Diablo is not considered a classic for nothing. The game has successfully established ARPGs popularity in the market, spawning various similar games and influencing many others in the next years to come. So it comes as no surprise when veterans come back for Diablo IV looking for a way to play with their favorite classes from previous games. One of those classes is the Paladin.
After its official debut in Diablo II, the following game wouldn’t bring it back until Crusader, its spiritual successor, would be introduced in the Reaper of Souls expansion. Both classes played very similar and fulfilled the same archetype role. Immortal also brought Crusader back, but is it returning once again for the next numbered title in the series?
Can You Play Paladin in Diablo 4? – Answered
As of its Open Beta period, Paladin is not available in Diablo 4. Crusader is nowhere to be seen, either. The game is set to be released with only five starting classes: Barbarian, Rogue, Sorceress, Druid and Necromancer. The last two weren’t playable during the first Closed Beta, but players were able to create them following the Open Beta weekend.
Blizzard hasn’t stated the intention of introducing another new class in the game’s official release, so if you’re an average holy magic enjoyer, I’m afraid to say that you won’t be able to unleash divine punishment upon this land’s heretics for now.

Just like Diablo III received Crusader in a following expansion, we might see the same thing happening in IV. It took two years before it finally happened, but should consider that this was almost 10 years ago, and DLC culture is a lot bigger now than it was before. Maybe it won’t be as long before a new expansion drops, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they brought more than a single new class to the table.
So in short, no holy warrior for now. But things will probably be different in no time. And we’ll be sure to let you know when it eventually happens.
