Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Available on PlayStation 4?

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a PS5 exclusive and will be skipping the PS4. While many games are still hitting the last-gen console, the growing tendency is to have fewer games on it until the PS5 becomes the de-facto main Sony product. Rebirth is another exclusive joining its rankings.

So anyone who still holds some hope for a PS4 port will probably be disappointed, but this should be a similar case to what happened back with Final Fantasy XVI last year, which never saw a PS4 release and never will. The current gen will be the only one to receive these new products.

If the previous re-release of Remake for the PS5 wasn’t screaming, “This is your last chance to upgrade NOW!” nothing else was. If you want to experience the second part of this journey, you have no other option than getting the current-gen version. Or maybe waiting for a good while.

As we all know, Final Fantasy VII Remake did eventually hit the PC, regardless of its dubious port. And the same can and will probably happen to Rebirth one day, so you won’t need to get your PS5 now if you don’t mind waiting. But the main question is: when will that happen?

It took over two years for Remake to finally hit the online PC stores, so we might be seeing a similar timeframe for Rebirth, as the game will continue being a PS5 for a while due to licensing. FFXVI was also speculated to have the same destiny, but no official announcements nor a release date have been revealed yet.

So yeah, it will probably happen one day. But this day is still way more distant than you can imagine for now, so be careful if you’ll try to avoid spoilers until then. Or just kick the bucket with the upgrade to see what lies ahead in this new chapter of the FFVII universe.
