While the extraction shooter genre is flourishing currently, with so many unique options to choose from, few compare to Escape from Tarkov. It offers complex firearm customization, hundreds of hours of quests, and some of the best shooting in the genre, but is Escape from Tarkov on Xbox?
Can You Play Escape from Tarkov on Xbox?
Currently, Escape from Tarkov is not available to play on Xbox. It’s a PC-only game, primarily due to the sheer complexity of the overall experience. The countless key binds alone would prove nearly impossible to port to a controller easily.
Their most recent first-person shooter experience, EFT Arena, offers a more laid-back approach to the extraction shooter by removing the extraction altogether. It’s an arena-based, hardcore first-person shooter in which you select a loadout and fight head-to-head against other teams of players. It’s more refined and simplistic, perfect for the console experience.
If any EFT experience comes to consoles, I imagine it will be Arena.
Will Escape from Tarkov Come to Consoles?
First and foremost, it’s unlikely that the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One could successfully run Escape from Tarkov. It’s too hardware intensive. However, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X|S most likely could handle the experience. But again, it’s the countless key binds.
Furthermore, you must consider the current state of EFT. It’s in a pretty rough spot, with countless cheaters and hackers plaguing the game for the community. Then, there’s balancing and content updates; a lot goes into the game. Porting and developing Escape from Tarkov for consoles likely wouldn’t work for the team at Battlestate Games.
While you can’t play EFT on a console, you can spend some time tracking down a Military Flash Drive on the PC version. It’s necessary for a handful of quests and crafting recipes as you progress through the ranks.
