Is Diablo 4 Available on Game Pass? – Answered

A cheaper ticket to hell

With all of the drama surrounding the Microsoft + Activision Blizzard situation, no one can safely assume when the merge will happen (if it ever happens in the end). Despite this delicate situation, many benefits of the potential fusion were largely discussed and sometimes even announced by both companies. One of them was about Blizzard games ever hitting the Game Pass. And with the imminent release of Diablo IV, fans want to know if the upcoming title would be one of the present names in the Xbox Game Pass services.

Will Diablo IV be Available on Game Pass? – Answered

Diablo IV will not be hitting the Game Pass. Despite speculations and previous statements from Microsoft itself, there are currently no plans on adding the game to the service according to Rod Fergusson, overseer of the Diablo franchise.

That wasn’t so unexpected, to be honest. Even with all company merging problems aside, there was never an official statement that Diablo IV would be available on the Game Pass. What we got was actually a blog post by Microsoft on September 2022 stating that they intended to implement some of Activision Blizzard’s games into their own services. The exact quote was:

We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities.

Although Diablo is directly mentioned, it was never said that Diablo IV specifically would be included. Game Pass launches are always a great visibility boost to a new game, but it’s not like this series needs that, to be honest. “Diablo” here could be referring to previous numbered titles and Diablo Immortal.

And there wasn’t any direct confirmation from Blizzard on the matter, so people shouldn’t jump to conclusions directly. We might not even get Blizzard titles at the Game Pass at all, so it’s all speculation at this point. But we can be sure that if we ever get them, Diablo IV will probably not be included in the first batch.
