Cease your heresy!

Despite the Grimdark universe of Warhammer, it has one of the most wholesome and inviting communities online, and that’s no different in Warhammer 40K: Darktide. However, a few heretics can spoil the mood and ruin the fun for everyone looking for a good time in service of the Emperor. Dealing with these heretics is now possible in Darktide, thanks to the reporting system introduced in the latest “Grim Protocols” update. Here’s how you can report a player in Darktide and let the Adeptus Mechanicus decide their fate.

Reporting a Player in Darktide

Darktide players can now report other players through the Social menu by selecting a report reason and submitting details of the encounter.

  • Hit Escape in Darktide, and select the Social menu option
  • Here, you’ll see a list of players you interacted with in the previous mission. We have blurred the names out for privacy’s sake.
  • Select the player you want to report and hit the report option at the bottom. You can also block them if you want.
  • After that, you’ll be taken to a form where you must select a reason for the report and fill out a text box with details about the encounter and the player.
  • You can choose one of the following report reasons in Darktide:
    • Inappropriate Name
    • Communication Abuse
    • Griefing
    • Cheating
    • AFK
  • Once you have filled out the form, hold the “Report” button, and the report will be sent to Fatshark.

After reviewing your report, Fatshark will take the necessary action to deal with the reported player. Since this is a new feature, we’ll have to wait and see how long it usually takes them to take action. This feature is available across all platforms.

Disconnection Punishment

In addition to reporting, players will now receive punishment for disconnecting from a match to circumvent being “downed” to complete harder penances. Disconnected players will now respawn back with the health count they had upon leaving and players who disconnect/ALT+F4 to get around being downed will now spawn back hogtied.

Additionally, if a player leaves mid-mission without reconnecting, it will automatically count as a loss for that player. However, the players in the mission will still be able to complete the mission; and if they do, it will count as a win for the remaining players.

Overall, the reporting feature is a welcome addition to an already fantastic title. Darktide has been through its ups and downs, but it’s a great spot now. It’s available now on PS5 as well and features crossplay.
