How to Pressure Fonadu in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Fiend Intel 1: Cacophonic Corvid)

Defense leads to offense

One of the first Fiend Intel spots in Junon brings you to the Fonadu, and compared to other fiends in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, this one has an odd pressure point. This guide will help you initiate the pressure so you can check off all three boxes.

Dodge the Death From Above attack to pressure the Fonadu after dealing enough damage. Unlike other Fiends in the area, you can’t take advantage of any weaknesses to initiate a pressure status, so your spells won’t help you here. Instead, start dishing out as much damage as possible to make the Fonadu fiend angrier than before. Within seconds of raw damage, the bird will begin to back up and charge an attack.

When you see “Death From Above” appear on the Fonadu, prepare to evade the attack. I recommend using Cloud here because his evasion is the easiest to take advantage of. Either way, once you dodge the Death From Above attack, the Fonadu will immediately fall to the ground and become pressured. However, this is just the start of a Stagger, so don’t expect the fiend to remain on the ground like it’s stunned.

Dishing out tons of damage while the pressure status is active in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a great way to Stagger any enemy. However, you can always fill the Stagger bar by hitting an enemy with plenty of attacks. Using Synergy abilities or specialized Stagger damage can help build up the bar outside of weaknesses, but they also aren’t required. Just don’t use your Limit abilities in these Fiend Intel areas unless you have completed the other objectives. Otherwise, they’ll be eviscerated, and you’ll need to retry.

While you’re on the hunt, bring the pressure to Thunderclaw as well in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
