How to Pressure Both Fire and Ice-imbued Enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Keepers of the Burrow)

Eeney, mini, mini, Fira

There’s no fiend quite as annoying as the Mi in the Grasslands. Here’s how to pressure both fire and ice-imbued enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (Keepers of the Burrow).

After activating the Swamplands Tower (called Activation Intel 3: Swamplands Tower in your compendium), a new fiend encounter will pop up on your map. And this fiend encounter, for many, is one of the hardest ones in the Grassland.

In the swamplands, you’ll encounter two Mi. Mi are variants of the much more common Mu enemy. There is one Fire Mi and one Ice Mi, and you can tell the difference based on the color of their fur and the rocks surrounding their burrows. The Fire Mi is red, with lava-like rocks around it, and the Ice Mi is white, with icy white rocks around its burrow.

There are two ways to pressure Mis:

  • By exploiting its elemental weakness or
  • By hitting it with powerful attacks and driving it from its burrow.

It’s much easier to use elemental attacks. The Fire Mi, distinguished by its red fur and red rocks, is weak to Ice attacks. The Ice Mi, distinguished by its white fur and white rocks, is weak to Fire attacks.

You can equip Cloud or another party member with a Fire and Ice Materia, which you can purchase from Chadley for a mere 10 World Intel points, which you’ll absolutely have if you’ve unlocked this Fiend encounter. With a Fire and Ice Materia, your party member will be capable of pressuring both Mis without ever needing to switch.

The Mis aren’t the only fiends with challenging combat requirements. The Wailing Weed can prove quite troublesome if it keeps taking quick naps. But if you’re really struggling with the Mis, it’s a good idea to level up your Materia fast.
